Cherry Vanilla “Secret” Smoothie


My toddler loves smoothies and this is one of her favorites. I think the addition of vanilla ups the decadence factor and it almost tastes more like a milk shake than a smoothie. The not so secret “secret” ingredients are the addition of spinach and flaxseeds both of which are undetectable with everything else going on.

This is great for breakfast, snacks, or a healthier alternative on one of those days when your toddler hasn’t eaten well and you need to sneak in a few more calories before bedtime.

This recipe yields about 3 cups and is best if consumed within 12 hours.


  • 1c yogurt
  • 1 generous handful spinach
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 2c frozen cherries
  • 2-3tbsp flaxseeds
  • 1 1/2tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2-1c of water


  1. Put everything in the blender in the order listed above
  2. Blend
  3. Add water to get to the desired consistency
  4. Blend
  5. Enjoy! 🙂
